The drill cleaned up

Recently I purchased an old hand drill, a Stanley No 5044 101n. Today I took it apart, brushed the rust off, sanded the wooden parts and oiled and greased it up. Now it’s working wonderfully again.

Damaged box

One of the previous owners thought it was a good idea to try out two of the drills in the top of the box. For the bigger of the two holes I made a square inlay, for the smaller hole I cut a round peg. Glued them both in and shaved them flat. Now the box looks reasonably presentable again…
