Yesterday I ordered some antenna switches (from HAMshop, where else?) and today they came in. One is for HF and the other for VHF/UHF and higher. See pictures below. Also, I have a question for fellow HAM’s, please have a look at the bottom of this post.

I put them to use directly, see below:
Usage and questions
I plan to use the switches to be able to switch my two antennas between multiple sets (transceivers / SDRplay) as follows:
HF (0 – 50 MHz)
For HF the left switch will connect the Hy End FED antenna between:
- ICOM 7300
- — (nothing yet)
- SDRplay (AntC)
UHF / VHF / Sattelite
For these higher frequencies the right switch will connect my dual band antenna between:
- ICOM 9700
- ICOM 2730
- SDRplay (AntA)
Question
I am a bit concerned that when I will be allowed to transmit after having my license, that the power that is going though the switch would partly go to the SDRplay as well. Any thoughts from fellow HAM’s? Please leave a comment when you have experience with such a setup…
Ik ken deze switches niet. Maar volgens mij worden de niet gebruikte uitgangen kortgesloten naar aarde. Ik denk niet dat er dan nog veel gebeurd richting de SDR.
Mocht je het niet vertrouwen zou je een RF limiter kunnen aanschaffen. Deze worden wel op ebay aangeboden. Wil je zelf wat bouwen kun je deze front end saver eens proberen te maken. https://www.ok1rr.com/index.php/technical-topics/39-yet-another-front-end-saver

Ik zal ze eens doormeten, en de link naar die limiter ga ik eens bekijken dank je BAS.

Nou, na meting blijkt:
– de UHF/VHF switch (K-PO SW3N) sluit de andere aansluitingen keurig kort
– de HF switch (CX-310A) doet dat niet
De CX-310A heeft wel een overspraak demping:
Isolation:More than 60dB(DC to 500MHz),more than 50dB(500 to 800MHz)
Ik vraag me af of dat genoeg is?
Uitleg van Marcus van HAMshop: een kortsluiting is eigenlijk niet beter dan een filtering. De kortsluiting werkt feitelijk als antenne, filtering (zoals de Diamond werkt) zorgt voor betere signaaldemping.
